Toy Safety

It seems lately that all we hear about are toy recalls. Some of these product recalls are coming from some large toy companies that we have come to know and trust. Makes a parent a little nervous doesn't it?

As someone who has been in the toy industry for 20 years, I know first hand that toy manufacturers take your child's safety very seriously. From development to production, toys are tested every step of the way to ensure when they reach your child that toy is safe for them to play with.

I cannot speculate what happened recently, but can assume that the problem has been dealt with quickly and efficiently. Toy manufacturers do not want unsafe toys in the marketplace.

Parents can also help when it comes to toy safety. Be sure that you are purchasing a toy that has been created for your child's age. Even though you may think your child is ready for an older level toy, there are still other reasons that toy may not be safe for him/her such as the toy not being meant to be placed in the mouth which may result in a choking hazard.

With the cooler winter months upon us, be sure that any winter toys you purchase such as snow boards or snow tubes are manufactured for not only your child's age but development level.

With a cooperation between toy manufacturers and parents, we can all be secure in the safety of toys.
